Pioneering spirit...
Have been reflecting on some discussions at two recent Clergy get togethers.
We had a discussion about Emerging Church, based on the ppt show for Mission-shaped Church. (I was told the powerpoint slides could be downloaded from the C of E website, but I'm blowed if I can find them). What struck me was that people thought I was being a pioneer for what I was doing here trying to make an emerging Church with the teenagers. I personally feel like a late adopter (I spend time browsing and plagiarising every other blog I can find). I felt dis-heartened to think I was the only person apparently trying something like this, but I suppose Jesus talks of the kingdom being like a seed.
I also enjoyed talking to my old Team Rector, Nicolas. He is hoping to write about his experiences of growth through suffering. I am not aware of any emerging Churches exhibiting this very Biblical pattern of Church life. (Ok I get stressed sometimes when I have to set everything up on my own, but I hardly think that's the same thing).
Where are we suffering to build new ways of being Church?
hi,
sorry if youve already said this somewhere, but what are you trying to do with the teenagers and why do you class it as emerging?
